MARSHAL / PRACTICAL GUIDE
Website or mobile app: start with the task.
A business does not need an app just because it has a website, and a mobile app is not a more advanced website by default. The useful question is how people discover the business and what they need to do when they return.
Discuss your website or app brief ↗Use a website for an easy entry point
A link can take a new visitor to services, products, project examples or a contact route. If the main job is to help someone understand the business and make an enquiry, start by specifying that website experience. Test how it works on a phone rather than assume mobile use requires an app.
Describe the recurring task before an app
An app discussion is more concrete when there is a repeated action: browsing a catalogue, following an appointment flow or using a tool for a team. Identify the users and what they return to do. The task should justify the scope rather than the label “app”.
Agree devices and access
List the devices users have, whether a browser or installed product is needed and any account requirements. Discuss platform choices before development. Marshal’s public browser showcase demonstrates interface flows; it does not establish that every operating system or integration is included in a project.
Avoid two disconnected product lists
If the website and app share product information, decide where that data is maintained and which functions each surface needs. Explain existing systems in the brief. Separate the visitor experience from the operational information needed to support it.
Inspect examples with their limits in mind
The Glamour Glitz and Falcon International websites are real builds you can open. The Falcon app showcase is an actual-source public guest preview; the other four app examples are studio demos. Use each for what it demonstrates rather than treat every screen as a deployed customer product.
